10 Basic Tips On How To Be A Happier Person

Happy People, how to be happier, be a happier person, I want to be happy, people happy, working people happy, ways to feel happy, how to feel happier
We have one life with an infinite amount of opportunities to find happiness and at the core of every human being is the carnal desire to feel pure and true happiness.

Which is why today's article will predominantly focus on 10 basic tips on how to be a happier person.

Stresses and struggles aside, there is always something you can do to be a happier person. Through lifestyle, value and moral changes, creating a version of you who feels better, looks better and lives better is absolutely possible.

1. Appreciate What You Have

Greed and dissatisfaction stems from the inability to acknowledge and appreciate the blessings in your life.

Just the simple act of counting your blessings and being aware of all the things you have is enough to keep you grounded, appreciative and happy.

Start your day or end your night by going through all the wonderful things you have in your life. Count every single small thing and hold them close to your heart.

2. Do Something Enjoyable For Yourself

As we get older, our time and energy shifts rapidly to meeting the demands of daily life. Gone are the days when we are able to just do things for the sake of enjoying it.

Fair enough, hard work and diligence are prerequisites for success but what's the point of working hard in life if you never get to enjoy the fruits of your labor?

It's okay to take some time off to do something enjoyable for yourself. Whether it be walking on the beach, catching a movie or spending time with your beloved pets, do something solely for yourself because it's what you want to do and you enjoy it.

3. Practice Mindfulness To Live In The Moment

This moment, right now, you are alive. You're alive, still fighting and making a life for yourself.

No matter what problems you may face in the future or fears that plague your mind, right now you're okay. Quiet your mind, drift away from thoughts about the future, be aware of everything around you right now (especially things you appreciate) and acknowledge your existence in this moment.

We can't control the future nor can we accurately predict it. Anxiety and fear may attempt to infect our heart and mind but the best approach for warding off those demons is by focusing on what truly counts - this moment right now.

4. Separate Your Work Life From Your Personal Life

I like to believe that home is my safe space. It is the place I can come back too and escape the worries of life, the troubles I face professionally and the stresses awaiting me.

At home, unless seriously major, I never speak off my work life or my work problems.

It took practice and consistency but by preventing myself from talking about anything professional, my brain has rewired to switch off from professional to personal the instant I get home.

5. Surround Yourself With People You Love And Care About

In my personal opinion, their is nothing as serene and comforting as spending time with people who mean the world to me.

Doing things we love together, supporting out causes, holding each other up in times of hardship and enjoying the fruits of our hard work are all things that contribute to a truly happy life.

These are the people who matter the most and make life worth living. Make the time to see them. Regardless of how often or for how long, make time for these important people in your life. Let them know you care and that they are irreplaceable.

6. Contribute To Other People's Happiness

Even though we are on our own journeys, all of us are interconnected and interdependent.

We need each other. When one man suffers, it is our duty as brothers and sisters of the human race to help our fellow man in any way possible.

Charity, gifts, support, care and kindness are things that benefit others and us. When you give, you get. To build upon your strong character, contributing to other people's happiness will cement all your good values and morals.

You'd be surprised at how much you gain from even the little you donate. There's a truly humbling and genuine feeling attached to doing something good for another human being.

7. Increase Dopamine With Regular Exercise

Dopamine is the hormone responsible for feeling positive, optimistic and happy. It has been proven that regular exercise contributes to higher levels of dopamine.

This is probably something you already know but I simply could not exclude this fundamental habit from the list simply because of how effective it is.

Sometimes, the simplest of actions bring about the greatest results. Exercise, in any form, is a fundamental characteristic of a happier person. I would firmly stand by exercising in the form of doing sports in contrast to simply lifting weights.

Try to get outside as soon as possible, kick a ball or shoot some hoops, but most importantly, have fun while moving around. You'll feel happier and you'll burn off excess stress (and fat).

8. Make It A Habit To Get Some Sunshine And Fresh Air Daily

In order to remain healthy, wealthy and happy, it is necessary to always remain attached to nature.

Why?

Well, many studies have noticed a pattern between a lack of sunshine and Vitamin D. This may not seem like a big deal at face value, but, when you're low on Vitamin D, your body will eventually begin to degrade and lose it's strength.

If you don't feel physically good, it's not a far stretch to assume you won't feel good emotionally or psychologically.

Also, sunshine is responsible for the regulation of hormones that make you feel wide awake, alert, happy and calm.

Aside from the science, being outside and getting fresh air is very therapeutic in contrast to sitting in an office all day in front of a computer screen.

All it takes is 15 minutes a day to hit the sweet spot. Give it a try and let me know how you feel in the comment section below.

I garden and grow vegetables. You'd be surprised how rewarding this small activity can be to your overall health and wellness. Give it a shot!

9. Focus Your Energy Towards Actions Rather Than Results

A great lesson I learnt from my parents is that results cannot be controlled but actions can.

Some results, if not most, are unlikely predictable or controllable. What we do have control over is our actions.

Weight loss is a good example. You could set a goal to lose 10 pounds in a month, your diet and exercise plans could be executed as planned but your body may not react as such. Rather than 10 pounds, you may end up losing 8 pounds or you may even end up losing 12 pounds.

Results tend to always have a shade of flexibility but your actions can always be precise, calculated and concise.

They have a level of guarantee that can be used as fuel for your motivation to succeed. Excessive focus on results can be overwhelming which is why I honestly recommend you shift your focus to your actions.

Obsess over perfecting the manner in which you take action and I guarantee you will enjoy the process of achieving goals and dreams.

10. Detach Yourself From Negative Situations And Environments

When everything in your life is going right and you're taking every reasonable step to be happier but something specific is holding you back, one of your only choices would be to move on or move away.

This saddens me to say out loud but not everyone is happy to see another man or woman succeed. There are people who find an unnatural pleasure in seeing someone fail and be unhappy.

In such instances, the best thing you can do is detach yourself from negative situations and environments and move away.

Avoid negativity to the best of your ability. Check out this article on the easiest way to keep negativity away from you.

Keep a distance and allow yourself to enjoy happiness that you deserve.
